  • The Federal Opposition will meet this morning to determine the fate of the same-sex marriage plebliscite, and all indications are that it will be rejected. Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has made it known he will recommend his caucus block the bill

  • The most senior Republican in Washington has distanced himself from Donald Trump, saying he will instead focus on protecting his party's majorities in Congress. House Speaker Paul Ryan made the announcement at an emergency meeting of Republican politicians

  • The sister of Dylan Voller, the teenager who featured in a Four Corners expose on youth detention, says her family is not hopeful that the Northern Territory royal commission will improve the system. "We feel like it's just going to get brushed under the carpet," Kirra Voller said
