Good morning. Here's what's happening now:

  • Brisbane mother Sally Faulkner has spoken for the first time since the attempt to get her children back from Beirut, which landed her in jail along with a 60 Minutes crew

  • One of the bills used to call the double dissolution election in July will be debated in the Lower House this week. The Registered Organisations bill will create a new regulator for unions and employer organisations

  • A new study supports a move to start screening women for cervical cancer from 25, rather than between 18-20. The Federal Government's plan, which comes into effect in May 2017, will see pap smears replaced with a HPV test

A Mars lander is due to leave its mothership this week and begin its descent to the planet's surface. Europe's first planned Mars rover will search for signs of past and present life on the Red Planet.
