The 65-year-old, who was last month convicted of 10 sexual and indecent assault charges dating back to the 1980s, will have to serve a minimum of six years behind bars. District Court Judge Peter Zahra said Hughes took advantage of opportunities with children and engaged in predatory behaviour and had "not expressed remorse". So how can the Federal Government ensure that any extra money raised from higher fuel taxes will only be spent on roads? It can't.
