Yesterday, Finance Minister Mathias Cormann warned that if spending cuts were blocked then "the only alternative to balance the books is to increase taxes". But Senator Lazarus said the Government needed to propose "better" ways to improve the nation's books as Parliament was set to resume from a five-week break. "It'd be political suicide for the Abbott Government if they did try to introduce more taxes to the Australian public," he said. WA's former agent general in London and long time CEO of Fremantle Port said she was pleased to have the opportunity. "I really look forward to engaging with people throughout the state," she said. Premier Colin Barnett said Mrs Sanderson, who is the state's 32nd Governor and will take on the three-year role from October 20, will do an outstanding job.
