Rodney Clavell found dead after stand-off in Adelaide CBD brothel

An armed man who held police at bay for more than 12 hours in an Adelaide brothel has been found dead, South Australia's assistant police commissioner has said.

Police cordoned off large areas of Adelaide's CBD after Rodney Clavell, 46, holed himself up in the premises on King William Street about 1:00am.

Four women who were inside the building with Clavell were released around lunch time.

Clavell, a former prison guard, had a long criminal history and had previously been shot and wounded during a 2004 encounter with police.

The public wants action, not just ICAC findings

NSW Labor moved swiftly to expel Joe Tripodi from the party after ICAC corruption findings today, but the cynical and expedient culture he and others manipulated remains to be demonstrably changed.

Real estate agents launch campaign to end 'price baiting'

A group of real estate agents in Victoria and New South Wales have launched a campaign to crackdown on what they say is the deceptive tactic of underquoting or "price baiting".

The group wants a change in regulation to force vendors to publish their reserve price prior to a sales campaign.

The campaigners say some agents give price estimates to potential buyers that are up to 20 per cent below the reserve.

They argue this results in house hunters wasting time and money on looking at, and often getting building inspections on, properties they cannot afford.
