Cliff fall victim 'may have been posing for photo'

An international student who fell to his death from a cliff edge in a New South Wales national park may have been posing for a photograph at the time, police say.

French national Fabien Ardoin plunged 40 metres in the Royal National Park south of Sydney when it is believed the sandstone cliff he was standing on crumbled.

He was with his girlfriend and six other students from the University of Wollongong at the time.

Police said they were investigating the possibility Mr Ardoin was having his photograph taken at the time of the accident and are examining pictures taken by the group in the lead up to the fall.
