Police block Adelaide CBD, urge dangerous fugitive to give himself up

South Australian police have cordoned off part of Adelaide's CBD as they appeal to wanted criminal Rodney Ian Clavell to give himself up.

Clavell, on the run since May 22, is believed to be holed up in business premises on King William Street. Police say there are people with Clavell who cannot leave, but police stopped short of describing them as hostages.

Detective Superintendent Peter Harvey says police have been trying to make contact with Clavell since the lockdown began at 1:00am.

All public transport between the block of Halifax Street, Sturt Street, Angas Street, Gouger Street and Wright Street has been stopped.
