Abbott hoses down idea of coordinated campaign against Turnbull

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has hosed down speculation of a coordinated campaign against Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull over alleged disloyalty and says he expects his ministers to have ambition.

Mr Abbott has faced questions regarding conservative commentators Alan Jones and Andrew Bolt and the suggestion Mr Turnbull is being disloyal to the Prime Minister.

"I think that there has been a bit of overexcited chatter," Mr Abbott said. "The point I want to make is that I am very pleased to have Malcolm as a senior member of my government."

Victoria's political bastardry: a history

Geoff Shaw, who feels the Liberal Party has spurned him, is treading a well-worn path in the jungle of payback politics that is the Parliament of Victoria.

If we backtrack almost 80 years to 1935 we see premier Sir Stanley Argyle engage in a power struggle with his then coalition partner Albert Dunstan.

Real estate agents launch campaign to end 'price baiting'

A group of real estate agents in Victoria and New South Wales have launched a campaign to crackdown on what they say is the deceptive tactic of underquoting or "price baiting".

The group wants a change in regulation to force vendors to publish their reserve price prior to a sales campaign.

The campaigners say some agents give price estimates to potential buyers that are up to 20 per cent below the reserve.

They argue this results in house hunters wasting time and money on looking at, and often getting building inspections on, properties they cannot afford.
