Crocodile attacks man on boat in Kakadu billabong

Northern Territory Police say a man's family may have witnessed him being attacked by a crocodile in Kakadu National Park, south-west of Darwin.

Authorities are searching for the 62-year-old man, who was on a boat when he was attacked in a billabong at Cooinda late on Saturday afternoon.

"I believe the son was involved in the initial search for his father, which is obviously traumatising," Superintendent Bob Harrison said, adding that police and rangers are searching for the man.

The ruling comes after ABN Amro Bank, Standard & Poors' and Local Government Financial Services (LGFS) appealed a judgment by a single judge of the Federal Court which awarded 13 New South Wales councils around $30 million in compensation for their financial losses.
