Serving Defence officers implicated in sexual abuse allegations

More cases of rape and sexual assault in the Defence Force have been unearthed where the alleged perpetrators are either serving officers or working for Defence.

The outgoing Chief of Defence, David Hurley, says he has the names of eight serving officers who are thought to have sexually abused ADFA cadets.

And the chairman of the Abuse Response Taskforce concedes the issue of sexual abuse within the ADF is much larger than has ever been publicly acknowledged.

Australia Post to cut 900 jobs: reports

Australia Post will this week announce it is set to shed 900 jobs, according to reports, with most positions to go from operations in Melbourne.

Fairfax Media reports the postal service is expected to tell employees of the cuts on Tuesday.

Australia Post has been reviewing its business model as it continues to incur large financial losses from the declining use of traditional mail.

The report says private modelling indicates the organisation would lose $7.1 billion through to 2022-23 if it continued on its current path.
