UN chief condemns 'criminal' strike on Gaza school which killed 10

An Israeli air strike has killed 10 people and wounded about 30 in a school in southern Gaza in what the UN has described as a "moral outrage and a criminal act".

Witnesses and medics in the town of Rafah said the missile struck the entrance to the UN-run school where Palestinians who had fled their homes were sheltering.

UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon called for those responsible for the "gross violation of international humanitarian law" to be held accountable, while the US described the attack as "disgraceful".

The Israeli military said it had targeted terrorists on board a motorcycle in the vicinity of the school and added it was "reviewing the consequences of this strike".
