French authorities have named the suspected mastermind of the Paris attacks. He is Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a 27-year-old Belgian believed to be in Syria, according to media reports.
President Francois Hollande has said "France is at war" and will strike Islamic State targets "mercilessly". He also wants laws changed to allow dual nationals who carry out hostile acts to be stripped of French citizenship.
Meanwhile Barack Obama has warned against linking the refugee issue in Europe with the terrorist threat. "[Those] fleeing Syria are the most harmed by terrorism ... it is important we do not close our hearts [to them]." But sending US troops to fight IS would be a mistake, he says.
