ABC NewsMail - Morning Edition

Good morning. Here's what's happening now:

  • British MP Jo Cox has been shot dead in a daylight attack before a meeting with constituents in Birstall, near Leeds. The mother of two was an opposition Labour Party MP and a vocal supporter of Britain remaining in the EU. A 52-year-old man is in custody

  • Investigators say they have found the cockpit voice recorder, one of two 'black boxes', from crashed EgyptAir flight MS804. It is now being sent to investigators in Alexandria while the search continues for the flight data recorder

  • Indonesia has dramatically lifted the amount of Australian beef it imports in a bid to push prices down. Prices are sitting around $12.20 per kilo, which has hit families hard during Ramadan where shoppers buy meat for their nightly fast-breaking meals

British documentary maker Louis Theroux spoke to Lateline in the wake of the Orlando shooting. "There are fear mongers who talk about Islam as somehow it is an incubator of hate ... remember Christians, like the Westboro Baptist Church, are just as capable of promoting intolerance," he said. You can read more or watch the full interview here.

Here's what's coming up:

  • 11:00am AEST: Bosses from the AFL, NRL and Netball Australia will make a domestic violence announcement at the MCG

  • 12:15pm AEST: Jared Tallent will be presented with his gold medal for the 50km walk at the 2012 London Olympic Games. He was upgraded from silver when Russia's Sergey Kirdyapkin was banned for doping

  • 12:30pm AEST: Employment Minister Michaelia Cash and opposition employment spokesman Brendan O'Connor will debate at the National Press Club

  • 6:00pm AEST: Malcolm Turnbull and Bill Shorten are in Sydney for a Facebook debate
