Good morning. Here's what's happening now:

  • Launceston remains on high alert with floodwaters in Tasmania expected to peak this morning. About 3,000 residents and 800 businesses have been advised to evacuate low-lying areas, while the search continues for two Tasmanians still missing after the deadly deluge

  • Hillary Clinton is expected to claim victory in the Democratic presidential nomination race as six states go to the polls today. US media reported that Mrs Clinton secured the required delegates to win the nomination yesterday, but her campaign played down the reports and urged supporters to vote

  • A bid by Israel's state prosecutor to return alleged paedophile Malka Leifer to house arrest in Israel has failed. Last week the former principal of an ultra-Orthodox girls school in Melbourne was ruled unfit to face extradition to Australia and had her home detention lifted

Finland is preparing to bury 5,000 tonnes of nuclear waste for up to 100,000 years at a cost of up to 3.5 billion euros ($5.3 billion). The waste will be stored in tunnels below an island off Finland's west coast. The project is the first to attempt to store the dangerous by-products from nuclear power underground.

  • 12:00pm AEST: The inquest into the death of Jared Olsen begins. The 41-year-old died at Perth's new Fiona Stanley Hospital after he was given the wrong drugs

  • 6:00pm AEST: Opposition Leader Bill Shorten will appear at a people's forum hosted by Sky News in Brisbane. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is not expected to attend
