Thousands of people have gathered in Turkey and France to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing and all those who have served and died in war. Across Australia, Anzac Day has been marked at marches and ceremonies, with an estimated 80,000 people attending the dawn service at Melbourne's Shrine of Remembrance. Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, were surprise attendees at the dawn service in Canberra, and later laid a wreath at the Australian War Memorial during the national Anzac Day ceremony.
