The captain of a South Korean ferry that capsized three days ago, leaving 28 people dead and 268 missing, has reportedly been arrested and charged. Lee Joon-seok faces five charges, including negligence of duty and violation of maritime law, according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency. Lee has come under scrutiny after witnesses said he was among the first to escape the sinking vessel, which was on a 400-kilometre voyage from the port city of Incheon to the Korean holiday island of Jeju. Authorities are still searching for any survivors of the maritime disaster, which is South Korea's worst in 21 years, based on possible casualties. More » |
