Commission of Audit set to mark budget priorities

The Federal Government's budget priorities are expected to become clearer today with the release of the Commission of Audit's report.

It has been more than six months since Treasurer Joe Hockey announced the independent commission would look into the Government's spending.

Mr Hockey received the commission's report late last month and it will be released early this afternoon.

Opposition treasury spokesman Chris Bowen has criticised the timing of the release of the report, saying it is "unconscionable" that it was not released "weeks ago".
