Thousands of Australians have attended dawn services around the country to commemorate Anzac Day and honour the men and women who have fought and died in war. The services mark the 99th anniversary of the first landings by Australian and New Zealand troops at Gallipoli in 1915. An estimated 80,000 people attended the dawn service at Melbourne's Shrine of Remembrance. Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge were surprise attendees at the dawn service in Canberra and are expected to lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier later this morning.
