  • The Federal Opposition will today unveil a campaign pledge to spend $2.4 billion over the next four years to unwind a freeze on Medicare rebates paid to doctors. Labour said the plan would cost $12 billion over a decade and would be paid for through savings

  • One of the 219 Nigerian schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram has been found. Amina Ali and her four-month-old baby were rescued by soldiers working with a civilian vigilante group. Ms Ali told activists the other women were still "heavily guarded" in the militant group's Sambisa Forest stronghold

  • The Totten Glacier in East Antarctica has an unstable area that could collapse, contributing to a rise in sea levels of more than two metres. A new study published in the journal Nature shows the glacier, which was previously thought to be stable, could collapse if there was warming between 3 and 6 degrees Celsius
