Tom Jonas to miss six games for strike
Port Adelaide's Tom Jonas has been handed a six-game suspension at the AFL tribunal for his elbow strike which knocked out West Coast's Andrew Gaff on Saturday.

Jonas attempted to lower the grading from intentional to careless despite on Monday claiming he would plead guilty at the tribunal and "cop whatever comes my way".

Jonas argued he had intended to hit Gaff in the back or shoulder having "braced for contact" after making a late decision not to attempt a spoil, resulting in what he described as "a clumsy mess".

But the jury disagreed with Jonas's assertion, finding he deliberately struck Gaff.
