No charges over allegations of horse racing corruption

Victoria Police will not press charges over its investigation into alleged corruption in the horse racing industry.

Organised crime detectives have been investigating allegations of race fixing and money laundering in several races in 2011 and 2012.

Police say they have completed a thorough investigation of the matter and, on advice from the Office of Public Prosecutions, no charges will be laid.

Under-fire councillor disendorsed as ALP candidate for Bennelong

ICAC witness Jeff Salvestro-Martin has been officially disendorsed as the Labor candidate for the Federal seat of Bennelong.

Salvestro-Martin is one of six Ryde councillors who is facing an Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) inquiry which started today in Sydney, over allegations that he and five other Ryde councillors received undisclosed political donations before the 2012 local government elections.

The ALP's National Executive made the decision to disendorse him at a meeting today.
