Fears for workers after blasts at Florida gas plant

A series of explosions has rocked a propane gas plant in central Florida, with local media reporting multiple deaths and injuries.

At least 15 people are unaccounted for after the blasts at the Blue Rhino facility in the town of Tavares, north-west of Orlando, a local official said.

Lieutenant John Herrell of the Lake County Sheriff's Office told a televised media conference that seven others had been taken to hospital and two had escaped unhurt.

US media earlier cited Tavares city administrator John Drury as saying that 24 people had been working the night shift at the plant on Monday.
