MPs urge Australians to bypass online geo-blocks

A federal parliamentary committee has recommended that businesses find ways to lawfully evade technology that allows IT companies to charge up to twice as much for their products in Australia.

The Standing Committee on Infrastructure and Communications found Australian businesses were paying up to 50 per cent more for IT products, compared to their international competitors.

The committee's chairman, Nick Champion, says geo-blocking is unfair when used to segregate global markets in order to make bigger profits.

A better way to prevent asylum tragedy

As a long-time advocate for refugees, I discovered early on a pattern of error and delay by the federal government in assessing refugee claims.
