Huge expansion for Manus Island under Rudd's asylum rethink

Papua New Guinea's government has confirmed that the Manus Island detention centre is to be significantly expanded.

The ABC has been able to confirm that the centre's capacity will be increased from 200 people to 3,000.

The move is part of a new asylum seeker policy to be announced by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in Brisbane this afternoon.
