Police name person of interest in French student's murder

Brisbane police have have named a 25-year-old man as a person of interest in the murder of French university student Sophie Collombet.

They say Benjamin James Milward is an itinerant and that he will remain a person of interest until his name can be eliminated.

Ms Collombet's naked body was found in Kurilpa Park last week. She had been bashed to death.

The 21-year-old had been studying business at Griffith University.

Labor's Louise Pratt has laughed off a suggestion she cannot work with running mate Joe Bullock after he described her as a "poster child" for causes such as gay marriage and accused her of canvassing votes against him.

In November, the right-wing union powerbroker reportedly told a Christian function in Perth that he was needed in Parliament otherwise it would follow "every weird lefty trend that you can imagine".
