Woman dead in North Adelaide townhouse fire

A woman is dead and a man is in a critical condition in hospital as a result of a house fire at North Adelaide.

Firefighters rescued a 63-year-old man and he was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital suffering from burns and the effects of smoke inhalation.

The body of a 57-year-old woman was found when a further search was made of the house.

Angry Dreyfus rejects Japan's 'offensive' Sea Shepherd claims

Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus has angrily rejected Japanese claims that the Australian Government has "outsourced" its anti-whaling campaign to controversial activist group Sea Shepherd.

Mr Dreyfus was speaking as he wrapped up Australia's legal challenge to the whaling program at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

He was highly critical of Japan's previous assertions to the court about Australia's relationship with anti-whaling activists, saying allegations Australia supported violent extremism were "offensive and untrue".

And he told the court Japan's attempts to invoke a scientific justification for its whaling program were "not supported by any proper hypothesis".
