ABC NewsMail - Afternoon Edition

Good afternoon. Here's what's happening now:

  • A light plane has crash landed into a lake on a golf course in Sydney's south-west. The three people on board all escaped injury

  • Ted Cruz didn't explicitly endorse Donald Trump when he spoke at the Republican National Convention today, and the crowd didn't like it. The former candidate for the Republican nomination was booed while his wife was escorted out for her safety

  • Adam Whittington has been released from prison in Beirut more than three months after his involvement in the bungled kidnapping of two children as part of a 60 Minutes story. His family says he will undergo health checks before leaving Lebanon for his home in Sweden

It's hard to forget the face of Victoria's latest road safety campaign. Experts say humans would have to look something like Graham (below) in order to survive a crash.

Here's what's coming up tonight:

  • 7:30pm AEST: ABC's 7.30 will have further details about abuse within the Anglican Church

  • 9:30pm AEST: Lateline will speak with Michael Duffy, deputy editor of Time, about the Republican Convention
