  • Australia's Race Discrimination Commissioner has urged people to speak out against comments which "breed hate" towards Muslims. Television personality Sonia Kruger sparked controversy this morning when she suggested to Channel Nine's The Today Show that Australia's borders should be closed to Muslims in order to prevent terrorism

  • Kevin Rudd wants the Government to nominate him for UN secretary-general. Foreign Minister Julie Bishop confirmed the news today and said she would put the idea before cabinet. Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said it would be "petty" not to support the former PM's bid

  • Star Wars fans, meet your new Han Solo: Alden Ehrenreich. The actor, who you may remember as cowboy movie star Hobie Doyle in Hail, Caesar!, was the first of 3,000 actors to audition for the role
