Egypt denies naming ElBaradei as interim PM

The appointment of leading liberal politician Mohamed ElBaradei as Egypt's interim prime minister has hit a snag.

State media had said he would be sworn in within days, but the presidency denied a decision had been made after a top Islamist group voiced its opposition to the appointment.

The political confusion comes as tens of thousands of supporters of ousted leader Mohammed Morsi continue protesting against the coup, raising the prospect of further bloodshed.
