Rio 2016: Day 11 preview - Sailing and track and field provide Australia with medal hopes

Take a look at what is coming up on day 11 in Rio (all times AEST):

Athletics

After top-10 finishes in the 3,000m steeplechase, Madeline Heiner Hills and Genevieve LaCaze will go around again in the 5,000m heats from 10:30pm.

We will also see Michelle Jenneke in the 100m hurdles heats from 12:05am, with 2009 world champion Dani Samuels starting her discus final at 12:20am.

Commonwealth Games champion Kim Mickle starts her javelin qualifying at 9:35am, with Kelsey-Lee Roberts and Kathryn Mitchell in group B at 10:50am.

Basketball

Australia will contest the quarter-finals of the women's basketball from midnight.

The Opals finished top of group A and take on Serbia, with the winner to meet Spain or Turkey, who face off at 3:30am.

The United States meet Japan (7:45am) and France plays Canada (11:15am) for a spot in the other semi-final.

Canoe sprint

Alyssa Bull and Alyce Burnett will race in the eight-team final of the 500m women's kayak double at 10:23pm.

Australia also has a medal hope in the 1,000m men's kayak single, with Murray Stewart winning his semi-final to qualify for the final at 11:12pm.

Sailing

Sailing lifted Australia's spirits during the iffy London Games and the country's sea dogs are in the running for more medals in Rio.

Ashley Stoddart's women's laser radial race was rescheduled to start at 2:05am, while 2015 World Cup champion Tom Burton will contest the men's laser medal race from 2:50am.

Jake Lilley will rep the green and gold in the finn medal race at 3:35am, and the team of Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin are ion the Nacra 17 mixed medal race at 4:20am.

Other highlights

Usain Bolt will run in the men's 200m heats which start at 12:50am, US gymnast Simone Biles will go for a record-equalling fourth gold medal in the floor routine at 3:47am and Australia's Grant Nel will be in the 3m springboard semi-final at 11:00pm.
